Millers News · Alpine Ski headed to State

It was a wonderful day at Wild Mt where the Washburn Alpine Ski teams competed in the Section IV Alpine Championships.

Congratulations to junior Luke Conway who successfully repeated as the Section IV Champion.  He along with seniors Logan Griggs, Alexander Heath, fellow junior Augie Bent, and freshman Zach Bion qualified to compete at the MSHSL Alpine State Championships next week Wednesday.

In addition, and just as exciting was the performance of our Washburn girls.  Ahnika Berg qualified to ski in the State Meet again with her 4th place finish. Her teammates, freshmen Vada Arbeiter, Nahlah Mkaouri, sophomores Sonia Svedahl, Quinn Jurek, and 7th grader Gabby Harritt skied extremely strong second runs to move up in the results after the first run.  Their performances moved them into a third place finish in the Section IV Championships, just 12 points shy of the 2nd place they needed to qualify as a team to ski in the State Meet.
