Washburn High School
The Millers travelled to Toni Stone Field, the home of St. Paul Central, and managed to come away with a 6-4 victory. Max Perrine pitched a strong 6 innings giving up only 3 hits and walking 3. He was helped by SS Will Harlow’s diving stop of a line drive headed towards CF and turned it into a DP and by Jake Garrison’s stop of a grounder near 2nd that he turned into a DP. Jack Carlson pitched the 7th inning giving up no hits or walks but was nearly defeated by 4 errors in his inning. This was uncharacteristic of the Miller defense.
Offensively, the guys had 9 base hits combined with 2 walks and took advantage of 2 Pioneers in the 2nd inning to score 3 runs. In the 3rd, they scored 2 more runs on 3 hits and a BB.
The team played well for 5 innings and Central took advantage of the Millers’ lack of focus in the 6 and 7th innings.
